Health Is Wealth

I met Lee Milteer a productivity coach at an internet conference and I receive a newsletter from her every other week. Usually her posts are about motivation and about how to achieve a high performance in business. This time, she talked about health and what she said resonated with me, because I too was going to write something about this connection of health and wealth.

The older I get the more I realize how important health is and we need to take charge of our own health. Her post is so good that I have decided to share it with you.

Lee Milteer’s post:

Last week we talked about health being true wealth. This week I want to continue by giving you some secrets to great health. The first secret you should know about perfect health is that YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE IT. You can only be as healthy as you think it possible to be and you choose to be. Our mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects have a profound influence on our physical body.

You must be 100% responsible for taking care of your health. It is not up to anyone else (not even your doctor).

Every day we are engaged in creating or destroying our human body with our mindset and daily habits. New research has proven that since we have the power to build our bodies that we also have the power to overcome our weaknesses or disease. Since the process of change is constant, we can always create a healthy, vibrant, strong body if we were willing to change our habits and thoughts. There is a connection of the attitudinal, emotional, and spiritual components of disease.

It’s important to realize that Health is the normal state of body, mind, and spirit. No matter what society says about getting older and the onset of old age diseases, no one has proven that that getting sick is necessary.

If this sounds unavailable to you because maybe you struggle with low energy, sleeplessness, occasional bouts with illness or any other number of health concerns, you may be skeptical about this kind of mind, body approach. But take heart—The secret to your success in creating vibrant health is the quality and consistency of your efforts on the mind, body, and spirit connection.

According to Dr. Deepak Chopra in his book Perfect Health, he says:

“Instead of seeing your body as a collection of cells, tissues, and organs, you can see it as a silent flow of intelligence, a constant bubbling up of impulses that create, control, and become your physical body. The secret of life at this level is that anything in your body can be changed with the flick of an intention.”

He goes on to say the cells of our body are intelligent. Your skin is renewed every five weeks. Your skeleton, seemingly solid and rigid, is entirely new every three months. Your stomach lining changes every five days. You may appear on the outside to look the same but in reality, you are constantly replacing your cells. Every year, fully 98% percent of the total number of atoms in your body is replaced.

I am sharing this information with you to establish the fact that to change the level of health that you are experiencing, you must take the responsibility to change the software of your thinking. You must make new decisions about your beliefs, your behaviors and your actions in regards to long-term good health. Be aware that those extremely small imbalances in your system today can sow the seeds of future illness.

  1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.
  2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
  3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’ And the devil’s family name is Alzheimer’s.
  4. Enjoy the simple things.
  5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
  6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
  7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keep sakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
  8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
  9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
  10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!
